Associate Product Developer

Reports to: Senior Manager, Development + Production

San Francisco, CA

In-Office Time Requirement: This hybrid position allows for primarily remote work, with up to bi-monthly travel to our San Francisco office. Candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area are desired. Candidates in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area are also highly desired for occasional in-office work. Additionally, the I+I San Francisco office is open to any employees who wish to work in an in-person environment.

 

Position Description:

This role will be responsible for supporting and executing the product from design inception through development completion. Strong candidates should be detail oriented, responsible, and work with determination to complete all projects. The Associate Product Developer will work collaboratively with design, technical design, merchandising, planning and production teams. In addition, this position is required to communicate with clarity to suppliers, factories, and to manage and share information with all cross functional teams including their manager.  A sense of urgency and ability to problem solve are required attributes for the ideal candidate.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • A clear understanding of the product development process, multi-season calendar, and all business tools
  • Support the team through all cross functional meetings and foster comradery within the team
  • Communicate with factories and mills to reserve capacity and PO timing product
  • Work cross functionally with planning and production on PO timing and ensure accurate pass off on newly developed Isabel product.
  • Follow up and ensure all costing and proto samples are received on time
  • Maintain critical shared documents such as WIP reports, sample status, and cost sheets
  • Seek out information that can add to timely problem-solving solutions
  • Collaborates and manages-up all business issues with supervisor.
  • Have a sense of urgency and present facts that will lead to positive and timely solutions
  • Upon order placement, reconfirm factory capacity, FOB, MOQ and negotiated delivery.
  • Support the technical design team on proto and fit sample needs
  • Work with factories and in-house lab on fabric testing and dye lot approval
  • Manage Target vendors: management of artwork routing and approvals, maintain calendar with I&I team to make sure deliverables are met on time, attend all Target fittings and CFT calls, communicate with Target vendors on any development requests.
  • Maintain and ensure all factories are registered and participating in Target Responsible Sourcing Program including Responsible Sourcing Audits.
  • Manage PCN seasonal updates with help from manager.
  • Contribute to team goals and special projects such as sustainability and vendor strategy.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of product development experience in the apparel industry
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with appropriate sense of urgency
  • Commitment and superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment, build trust and relationships with vendor & company staff
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of product cycle timeline and garment construction
  • General textiles knowledge, any advanced skill set is a plus.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work environment
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Outlook
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years experience
  • Proficiency with PLM, Adobe Suite- Illustrator and Photoshop a plus
  • Experience working at or as a vendor partner for Target is a plus
