Director of eCommerce

The Director of eCommerce is responsible for leading strategic development of consumer and brand experience, revenue and profit growth for Ingrid & Isabel direct to consumer website. This role requires a proven track record in growing eCommerce businesses through functional innovation and user experience, employing effective traffic-driving tactics and campaigns, creating engaging on-site content and merchandising opportunities through cross functional collaboration. 

As a member of the management team, the Director of eCommerce reports directly to the CEO/Founder and provides leadership and vision to both drive the business forward and provide an exceptional brand experience to our consumers. The Director of eCommerce will partner with corporate shared services functions that span eCommerce development, IT, customer service, and warehousing.




    • Set vision and strategy for holistic and seamless brand discovery, shopping and purchase experience
    • Bring new ideas and innovative approaches to digital experiences to drive growth and conversion
    • Develop and update brand strategic plans for the web site based on the brand priorities, industry trends, concept-to-consumer, and customer insight
    • Stay abreast of current digital marketing trends, consumer insight, eCommerce technology
    • Drive achievement of eCommerce channel goals

    • Manage and drive improvements to eCommerce P&L, including revenue, margin and expense improvement
    • Develop annual and monthly eCommerce forecasts, including sales, traffic, conversion and AOV
    • Develop KPI channel strategy and set budgets
    • Execute strategy of all digital performance marketing channels including search (organic + paid), shopping, display (remarketing + prospecting), social, email and affiliate channels
    • Email: Oversee email marketing programs, seasonal schedule, briefing process, and performance reporting for weekly, transactional, and triggered emails; build strategy for e-mail testing to increase consumer engagement
    • Paid/Shopping/Display: Oversee paid and display marketing efforts, including investment strategy, program performance, and testing
    • SEO: Partner with agency to develop and deploy search engine optimizations
    • Social: Partner with marketing and design to activate an engaging and profitable social strategy
    • Affiliate: Work with Affiliate Manager on brand enhancement, inventory management and revenue growth strategies
    • Track and report eCommerce performance (i.e. revenue, traffic, email, consumer engagement, etc.) and transform data into actionable insights and recommendations

    • Discover, evaluate and recommend new eCommerce technologies to ensure delivery of value and KPIs
    • Define long-term needs, functionality, features, etc., and digital experiences
    • Determine site experience improvements through analytics and testing; Work with design and development teams to ensure UI/UX friendly execution

    • Partner with Marketing to ensure site, digital advertising and emails express brand mission and points of differentiation
    • Provide Merchandising channel specific insights to be leveraged for new product lines
    • Work with Planning on promotional and content opportunities facilitating sell-thru
    • Lead operational decision-making and partner with leadership in customer service, distribution and logistics to drive performance and customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle
    • Coordinates activities with IT/web development shared services for new features and functions; represents the brand during scope work for new systems


  • 5+ years of experience in retail eCommerce 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; business, marketing or related field preferred
  • Apparel brand, business and eCommerce experience preferred
  • Amazon experience a plus
  • Subject matter expertise in web production, site operations, UI/UX, features and functionalities, site merchandising and content and digital marketing strategy, digital marketing tactics a plus
  • Strong leadership, influencing and communication skills with ability to interact, influence and align with all levels of the organization, both internal and external
  • Demonstrable and impressive track record of achievement in revenue growth, management of budgets, developing relationships with cross functional teams and third-party vendors
  • Strong management of P&L
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
