2/14/2011Rothko Red
I had the absolute pleasure of seeing a Rothko painting in red at San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art, and it was breathtaking. I found his art to portray red as intense yet serene, florescent yet subdued, deep and yet touchable, like suede and like glass all at the same time. I had such a personal reaction that my feelings for red changed forever.
So, I had to make it personal. Rothko inspired me to look at...well...me. Can I wear red the way Rothko paints red? And the answer is YES!
After an investment of time at Sephora, I learned that red isn't just for the few, the gutsy and the French. It can work on anyone. We just have to find the "right" red. My reds? Clinique's Quickliner in 12 Deep Red and Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Vesuvio, described as a full bodied red on Sephora's website.
Find your Rothko Red! it's so fun once you do.
Happy Valentines Day.
XOXOXOXOXO
Cheers.

Who would have expected such a sunny, glorious day in December? I walked out of the house with cords (Genetic Denim of course), a puffy sweater and suede boots expecting what one would expect on a December day. Apparently, Tara Jasper, like me, thought the same in her snow boots. But somehow, she looked cool. She just bought her maternity jeans and loves them, paired them with a tone-on-tone striped tee, and carries a petite LV bag. Sitting in the sun on a gorgeous bench in front of Krimsa, she looked adorable, hip, and warm on this glorious San Francisco day.
Thanks, Tara for letting me take your pic. And by the way, we are long-time Sonic.net customers, per my husband. Neat to hear your husband started the company. We love it!
Cheers.
10/31/2011Pregnant in San Francisco

The Mission District of San Francisco is a vibrant area where food, color and Hispanic culture meet the laid back vibe of the West. On a sunny day we happened upon a small block party hosted by our San Francisco Police Department. The setting of Halloween characters, haystacks, and pumpkins were exciting to the many children and families enjoying their eclectic neighborhood. So when we came upon this mom-to-be, she fit right in with her flattering knit dress, birks, aviators and hipster cross-body bag. What I love is her pairing of casual and cool all while sporting the very best accessory her dog! It was a perfect Fall day and she was just perfect, as her pregnant self... in San Francisco.
Thanks, Erica, for letting me take you away from the fun festivities for a quick photo.
Cheers.
9/22/2011Pregnant in Texas
Photography by Ingrid Carney
During a summer visit to Corpus Christi, Texas where my family lives, we ventured out to a great lunchtime spot called Hesters Café & Coffee Bar. I loved the atmosphere, which was as cheery and eclectic as its teal front door. It used to be an industrial shop of sorts that was converted to a store with unique gifts, jewelry, home accessories and tons of other miscellaneous finds. So, when I saw this mom-to-be, I thought it no surprise. She wears a casual flare jean, cami, and flip flops with a color-blocking tank (very "in" right now). But what I love is that she tied what looked like a simple strand of twine around her high waist for something a little different. Something a little unexpected. And it worked. It worked much better than had she just left it alone. Doesn't she look great? And happy as her pregnant self...in Texas.
Thanks, Catherine, for letting me interrupt your meal for a quick photo outside.
Cheers.

Found FAB snow leopard jeans at GapKids Online for my girls. Only size left were kids 16. So, I forgot about the kids and bought for me. Fit perfectly, but can't button them. So, guess what I'm wearing today... ;) Love my GapKids jeans with a Bellaband. SUPER CUTE!
Cheers.
7/20/2011Pregnant in Paris
Photography by Jennifer Skinner
While visiting Paris for a Maternity, Baby and Kids fashion show this summer, I couldn't help but notice pregnant women in Paris. Of course, I notice pregnant women everywhere I go, but summertime in Paris brings everyone outside enjoying the city. Here are three of the many I found delightfully pretty while pregnant in Paris. Perhaps it was their carefree walk, their fashion simplicity, the smiles on their faces, as if pregnancy were not a burden or in the way of their day. I suppose the term is a certain "Je ne sais quoi" which really only translates to "I don't know what." But I think I do know what... their fashions were easy, feminine and beautifully simple. And they were happy, as their pregnant selves... in Paris.
Thank you, Kossiwa, Alessia and Eleanor for allowing me to stop you from your day and photograph your lovely selves.
Cheers.
5/4/2011Spring 2011 Photo Shoot
I'm on-set at our photo shoot capturing our new lines: swimwear, weightless tees, drape and more seamless essentials.
Photo shoots are precisely planned events orchestrated around a vision that came months beforehand. We started with ideas that flowed into design, maneuvered into development and production and culminated with finished products.
So, by the time we're on-set, like today, we're witnessing the culmination of many hours of dedication and teamwork. And if we're lucky, as the photographer shoots, the music plays and the model does her thing, we watch our vision come to life before us and revel in our accomplishments.
It's a great day.
